Maily

Download

Download Maily

Free, with public source code, for macOS, Windows and Linux. Always the latest version, with no account and nothing to sign up for.

The app

Maily-macos-arm64.dmgApple Silicon · macOS 12 or newer

Download for macOS
  1. Open the .dmg and drag Maily into Applications.
  2. Open Maily once: macOS blocks it, because the app is not notarized.
  3. Go to System Settings › Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway and confirm with your password (Apple's guide).

Or in one line

Paste this in the Terminal app:

curl -fsSL https://maily.thanaelfontaine.eu/install.sh | sh

It downloads the latest version, checks it against its SHA-256 checksum and puts Maily in Applications. No password asked. Run it again to update. Read the script.

The app

Maily-windows-x64.zipWindows 10 or 11, 64-bit

Download for Windows
  1. Extract the zip (right-click › Extract All).
  2. Run Maily.exe in the extracted Maily folder. Keep the whole folder: Maily.exe needs the files next to it.
  3. If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway (Microsoft's note).

Or in one line

Paste this in PowerShell (Start menu › PowerShell):

irm https://maily.thanaelfontaine.eu/install.ps1 | iex

It downloads the latest version, checks it against its SHA-256 checksum, installs Maily in your user folder and adds it to the Start menu. No administrator rights needed. Run it again to update. Read the script.

The window uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, included in Windows 11 and in most Windows 10 installs. If the window stays blank, install it.

The app

Maily-linux-x64.tar.gzx86_64 · glibc 2.39 or newer

Download for Linux
  1. Extract it: tar -xzf Maily-linux-x64.tar.gz
  2. Run ./maily in the extracted Maily folder.
  3. The window needs GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1: on Debian or Ubuntu, sudo apt install gir1.2-webkit2-4.1 libgirepository-2.0-0 libcairo-gobject2 (other distributions).

Or in one line

Paste this in a terminal:

curl -fsSL https://maily.thanaelfontaine.eu/install.sh | sh

It downloads the latest version, checks it against its SHA-256 checksum, installs Maily in ~/.local/opt with a maily command and an entry in your app menu, and tells you if the GTK packages are missing. No sudo. Run it again to update. Read the script.

Updates, checks and everything else

Updates

Maily tells you when a new version is out

Once a day, Maily asks GitHub for the number of the latest version and shows a small bar in its window when there is a new one. Update with the same one-line command, or download the app again from this page: your accounts and your mail stay where they are. You can turn the check off in Settings › Privacy.

Checksums

Check a download

Every file of a release has its .sha256 file, built by the CI from the tagged code. The one-line install checks it for you; by hand, shasum -a 256 -c on macOS, sha256sum -c on Linux, Get-FileHash on Windows.

Other systems

Intel Mac, ARM or an older Linux

No ready-made app for these yet: run Maily from source with uv, on any of the three systems (four commands). The app and the source version share the same data.

Next: your mailboxes and your AIs

Add your accounts in the app, then add Maily to Claude, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor or any AI that runs local MCP servers. About fifteen minutes, step by step.
